Family Room makeover

Our next room to give a update is our family room or  we actually refer to it as Dad's living room since the boys are NOT allowed to hang out and make a mess in this one room and so far it works .

first step in any room makeover is to update the wall color as of right now it is a pale yellow color which I do believe at one point was white .

Here are some before pictures

I was contacted by Dutch Boy Paints and Purdy to review some of their products the timing couldn't have been more perfect , I have never used Dutch boy paint before to be honest we have only used one brand of paint in our new house and vowed to stick with that same brand through out once Big likes a product its hard for him to try something new even if its FREE so you can guess the added stress I put in his life the day the paint arrived lol .

The paint color I choose for this room is called BAMBOO from Dutch boy paint

The Purdy Products I will be reviewing are

Dresser to Tv stand { Media Stand }

Remember the Dresser I found at a garage sale

Old Dresser

as soon as I saw it I new it would be perfect as a Tv stand … I was inspired by Liz Marie Blog from

Her post Dresser to Shelf’s.

Here is the Process I did to get My Tv stand

I wanted to add some new legs so I cut off the bottom of the dresser

Then Added the Legs

For the shelf’s I bought a sheet of plywood for $13 at home depot and had them cut it down for me and then took some of the fabric I had gotten at Wal-Mart last year to cover them

Then after I just came in for a min to check the laundry the wind blew and my newly painted Dresser seemed ruined .. Im not a HUGE! fan of Sanding and really didn’t want to start all over .. So I put my thinking cap on and remembered that I had a ton of paint left over from the Giani Kit that I used to do the faux granite look on my bathroom countertop.

So I first painted the top with some leftover paint from the Teal colored walls in the boys living room

Then took some old towels and started adding the layers

The colors I used for this .. I mixed the blue with white

after it dried I used the sealer that came with the kit

Added some molding

After everything was dry we brought it in  .. Now sorry for the images it was a cloudy day I will take some better ones today when I get home .

Let me know what you think ….

New Floors!!!!

I have been gone awhile the last project I posted about  was our living room/Dining room makeover the next step in our adventure is new floors .

I'm loving  the New wood floor it  goes Great with the current wood floor in the kitchen, We choose a darker shade since it was pretty impossible to match it but I'm really glad we couldn't I love the contrast between the two wood tones

Here are the before and after's .. I think the previous owners might NOT like the changes we are making lol

The Next Steps are:

  • New Couch

  • Hang T.v.

  • Window treatments

  • Something to go under T.v.

  • Homework desks for Boys

  • Rug under dining Room table

Just Add Plates

Yesterday I shared  the Pins that helped Inspire me to create a Plate wall of my own .

So I went hunting for unique plates to put on my wall with my color scheme but no luck and it was already stuck in my head so I have to "get it outta my head" so I went to the GoodWill and got a bunch of plates in different sizes I got 15 plates for under $6 total .

So My first Plate I made using some paper and mod podge other Plates I painted and added some of my favorite sliver ware ( I have a small addiction ) . My favorite one is this silly cute Bird plate I cut a bird out using paper , book pages then used my mod podge to
adhere it to the plate my favorite part I hot glued a twig under the birdy .
